The Torah admonishes judges to be upright and follow the law, even when the majority want it to do otherwise. The worst thing that can happen to a society of that there is no justice.

To show that it is important that children see how important it is to the adults. Children are sponges. They observe everything. If they see it is important for their parents, then it is important to them.
